On a bight, sunny and relatively warm Sunday morning in February, our pre schoolers got busy making their own bird feeders. They combined seeds, cheese and raisins together with lard for sticking power, and filled paper cups with the mixture. The cups were later taken home and hung in the children's own garden spaces so that they could watch the birds eat. The children also put up bird feeders in the outside space at the community hall, hanging feeders in trees.
You can find the recipe for making your own bird feeder here at the RSPB website: https://www.rspb.org.uk/kids-and-schools/kids-and-families/kids-activities/activities/birdcake.aspx
Sunday Shindig is a monthly get-together for parents and pre schoolers. A fun and relaxed atmosphere, parents can grab a coffee and relax, whilst the kids roam free. Activities, toys, indoor and outdoor space provided.
